My daughter's quinces at the Curtiss Mansion were from a storybook. From her entrance walking the downstairs to the Tangled theme song, the gorgeous sit down dinner in the carriage room, the first dance under the lights in the main courtyard, and the party that carried into the night in fireplace room. Every area of the Mansion was magical and every guest couldn't believe how beautiful it was. We used Birdside Events from the list of approved vendors and it was a great choice.

This review is for both The Curtiss Mansion and Javi (our wedding month & day of coordinator). My now husband and I had our wedding reception at The Curtiss Mansion in February of this year and this review is long overdue! We had our reception at The Curtiss Mansion, and it was THE PERFECT VENUE for us. My husband and I planned our wedding from Houston and we did one trip to Miami to tour wedding venues. Honestly speaking, we had a list of venues to tour and The Curtiss Mansion was not at our top. HOWEVER, once we saw the venue in person, we fell in love. The photos DO NOT to this property any justice. AT ALL. It is GORGEOUS! Also, the space is so incredible! We had a cigar roller, separate dance floor space from dinner, a coffee cart, a photobooth, ETC & it was not crammed at all. So, in addition to planning our wedding long-distance, we got married in 6 MONTHS from our engagement!!! Essentially, we planned our wedding 5 months from choosing our venue and signing our contract. Needless to say, we could not have done all of this without our AMAZING wedding coordinator, Javi. He works with the venue and there is no one else better for the job than he is. If you're even thinking about hiring Javi as your wedding coordinator—do it. Seriously. From the start, he was incredibly responsive (like, lightning-fast replies), super organized, and had the calm, collected energy every couple needs during wedding planning. Javi made the most of the space and worked seamlessly with the venue staff and our vendors to bring everything together. He has a TIGHT relationship with the vendors and it SHOWS. On the day of our wedding, we didn’t have to think about a single thing. Javi was everywhere without ever being in the way—managing the timeline, keeping everything flowing, and making sure we actually got to enjoy the night (which is harder than it sounds at your own wedding!).The whole night felt effortless—because he was handling everything behind the scenes like a total pro. Bottom line: Javi is a wedding day MVP. He’s thoughtful, detail-oriented, genuinely kind, and truly passionate about what he does. If you want to actually enjoy your wedding and not spend the day stressing about logistics, hire Javi. You will not regret it. & please do yourself a favor and tour The Curtiss Mansion if it's anywhere near your radar. It's such a unique venue and all of our guests raved about it. Oh! ALSO. If you are concerned about the potential airplane noise like I was, DON'T BE. We didn't notice one plane fly by! NOT ONCE!

I recently attended my beloved niece's wedding at the Curtiss Mansion. I'm a long time mobil event DJ and Event Planner of 29 years. Whomever was the planner did not do a very good, nor complete job. I've help plan hundreds of weddings over the years, and I've always believed that the "Devil is in the Details". In others words the details are important, ALL of the Details are IMPORTANT. During the ceremony they had the mic on a stand, off to the side. Although you could barely hear the Pastor, you could not hear the Bride and Groom do their vows. That is why, I ALWAYS strongly advise that the Pastor or Officiant hold the mic. In that way he can be better and fully heard, and when it comes time for the vows he simply has to hold the mic up to the B&G so they too can be heard. Or they could also clip Lavalier mics on each particpant so everyone is fully heard. However Lavalier mics tend to be very sensitive and can also pick up other ambient sounds (like wind) in the area. Therefore, I've always found that having the Officiant holding the mic works best. The next observation I had was that the DJ was not really DJing. Instead he just had prerecorded mixes that were being Auto-played. A trained monkey can push buttons and play music. A real DJ creatively mixes a wide variety of music and most importantly interacts with the guest or audience. This dude had no personality. He basically just stood there and auto played everything. At least he did take request and played them. So that was one good thing about him; and also his sound system sounded good. The final observation was that for the cocktail hour they had high top tables set up in this courtyard but with no seats for people. I noticed that there were a few handicapped and elderly people that were forced to sit on this hard concrete bench. It looked very uncomfortable. Later on during dinner, which was outside in another courtyard, it started to drizzle with a light rain off and on for a while. This planner had NO contingency plan in case of rain. There was plenty of space inside that they could have set up additional tables and chairs, but this was not done. Instead a few people took their plates inside and were forced to either stand there eating their food or find a couch or chair to sit in while they hold their plates and attempt to eat. This was very bad, or at least incomplete planning. I learned a long time ago to Pray & Hope for the best, but ALWAYS plan for the worst, in case it happens. Always have a back up or contingency plan. ESPECIALLY for outside events in Florida!!! All that being said, the overall atmosphere at Curtiss Mansion was excellent. It's a beautiful venue. And the catering company did a good job with the food. Everything tasted good. They just need to pay better attention to the all important DETAILS! Oh, one final thing. For some unknown reason, some dummy decided to paint the front main doors sometime during the event. And they didn't even have the common sense to put up a sign warning people about fresh paint. This was incredibly STUPID. My poor wife went to go out that door and got wet paint on her hand. This also happened to another guest. What were they thinking???

We had our wedding at Curtiss Mansion in February. The venue was absolutely beautiful, and our experience working with Javi and his team was unparalleled. There are plenty of beautiful options for ceremony and reception sites (including indoors) so you can tailor this venue to your unique vision. I HIGHLY recommend Javi for wedding coordination. He truly went above and beyond and handled every aspect of our wedding with professionalism and care. His experience in the industry is apparent- not a single thing was overlooked. 10 out of 10 experience with this venue and Javi and his team!
